A true digital bible of Swiss vineyards, the Vinilink App is aimed at serving wine enthusiasts while supporting Swiss winemakers and producers.
The wineries can increase their direct sales to targeted customers without intermediaries or commissions, while consumers (novices, amateurs, or experts) enjoy a practical and user-friendly mobile application with a rich information on local wines.
Vinilink, the digital guide of Swiss wine
Free and without in-App advertising, the Vinilink App allows users to discover new wines according to their individual preferences, get detailed information about each bottle, rate wine, post reviews, and share their discoveries and recommendations with friends.
The app also gives users the opportunity to participate in exclusive wine events (tastings, open cellars, tours, etc.) in different cities and regions, and view rankings of top local wines.
Goal: 5’000 wine references
Today Vinilink lists more than 1600 wines of about a 100 of Swiss producers. The founders aim to increase these numbers to 500 producers and more than 5'000 references in the next twelve months.
Switzerland – No 1 wine consumer in the world
Switzerland ranks as one of the top consumers of wine in the world in terms of personal spend and per capita consumption. Nevertheless, every year Swiss wines are losing positions to imported bottles, even though local wineries still managed to gain some market share in 2019 for the first time since many years. Result: local producers often have hard time to free up their cellars.
Thirst for information
According to studies of the Swiss Hospitality Management School in Lausanne, the European Association of Wine Economics or Swiss Wine Promotion, a vast majority of wine consumers in Switzerland wish to consume local. However, limited knowledge about local wines and lack of information (recommendations, consumer ratings, reviews, etc.) push consumers towards foreign wines which are well-referenced in various specialized websites, platforms, and apps.
Thus, Vinilink responds to a profound need of information about Swiss offering. «Thanks to VINILINK Swiss consumers will be able to make their choices based on friends’ reviews, recommendations, and detailed information about each bottle and enjoy an amazing diversity and quality of our terroir» says Cyril Mestchersky, one of the Vinilink founders.
The application in 4 languages is already available for download on the App Store in Switzerland and will soon be launched on Google Play (mid-October).
